Yesterday I painted all day to make my mother her "requested" painting. She is into that Tuscan feel and the painting is already hung in her kitchen. I wish all the mothers out there a happy day for doing a thankless task in your society. You are of great value and is the glue that truly holds our families together.

Victoria page 2
3 May 2009
The first weekend of May and no Mayfest. That is a oddity here in Texas. Of course there were lightening and rain but, Mayfest is ready for those, but nothing can compete with the flu. I were thru pictures and found some travel ones from Victoria Canada. Love that place and some if the best raw oysters I remember. I also remember repacking suitcases to get a HUGE book of knots home. Man, it was heavy getting it to the airplane.

I had fun today. When to Fredricksburg, a neat old German settlement that has been revived, and we had lunch with family. It's a central meeting place for all of us and some of the best German food in the area. The bluebonnets are usually beautiful, but, this year with the Texas drought, there isn't fields of them. It is a shame because it's one of the best scenes.
Those who know me are aware of me leaving a wonderful job and relocating this year. It's a trying year with lots of downs and hopefully, more highs coming my way later in the year. This is my attempt at remembering the beautiful area I was luck to live in for a short time.

Lifenote April17
I have been absent lately. Haven't felt like crafting anything. Dealing with feelings and family is not a happy situation that inspires someone. Add divorce and grown children and the mix can be toxic to the muse. But, the good news is that I have a full time job AND a great trip to Lubbock this weekend. It's just fun being in the youthful atmosphere you lived and loved in. Got to visit a new winery, McPherson Winery, in Lubbock. Go in and visit with the fun loving guys in the tasting room on Saturdays. Of course I'm biased since I'm related to one of them, but, you'll enjoy it and the wine is excellent.
Scrapbooking has been on my mind. It seems to have a healing quality for me to pull out memories and try to remember the happy, fun moments of our lives. Here's the one for today.

Scrapbooking
I've been scrapbooking my former life. In trying to organize mementos and photos for the nth time I ran across these pictures and the moments spoke to me. Sounds like I'm physic doesn't it.

I had fun doodling on this page. The green just didn't do it and the white pen drawings seem to make the difference. Hard to believe Amy was ever that small but once upon a time....

Butterflies and Hydrangeas
Well, this has been a week. Saturday I got to paint with a group from San Angelo. I really enjoyed it and they do a wide range of different painting techniques I've never tried. Here is my "project" from the day. I think Mom is hanging it with her garden bench.
On a personal note, I had a job interview and got two sup jobs for this week. I can make it one more month. YEAH!

I love coloring. That is the biggest appeal for me with cards. There is just something calming and satisfying about it. I just love these vintage views and making them come alive.
I knew in college that crafting was a passion. Painting lessons was one of my passions I wanted to pursue. I remember my grandmother with fondness because we stitched, quilted, crocheted, and made candles all for my enjoyment.
I heart you
Here is my valentine this year. A tribute to my North Carolina kitties who I miss. They were my best friends and always there and willing to entertain me even when I didn't want to be.
I have had black cats for the last 10 years thanks to Emily and a loud, mouthy black cat, Miss Abby. Even in her senior years, she is still one grouchy old lady and has taken up residence with Amy and Dustin. Today there is Libby, the feminist who need no one, and Pee Wee, the half breed (part black and white) who loves to lick toes. And, I can't forget Miss Midnight, the sweetest and most psycho kitty I've ever encountered.
Here's to the best companions humans have. I {heart} you!

It's cold and icy here. First day I had to scrape ice in Texas in awhile. Therefore, it is time to post a springy, garden thingy. No news on the job front. I must practice patience, but, I'm not feeling it right now. The only good news IS I get to sleep in tomorrow because of ice-10am start and I still get paid for the full day!! And, I have found a painting group so I get to go paint Feb 14th with others. I'm excited about that. Maybe I'll meet new people "like me" or network to find a great new job! Cross your fingers!!

Dad's Wine Time
My father has this habit. For him it's 4 o'clock somewhere and wine is his drink of choice. Really, he just likes the relaxing time on the deck with a little music in the background. All the family is aware and it is a gathering time for us all. We bring our own drink of whatever and join in on the tradition. All the grandkids enable him with gifts of a "wine" nature.
Today's card is to him. A glass of merlot and a little Nat King Cole in the background. Here's looking at you kid!

A Texas Week
This has been a hot or cold week in Texas. It got to 80 one day and down to 29 the next day. Kinda crazy and sure to make me sick in the near future! I don't look forward to that.
I subbed in pre K this week and it was a hoot. We played letter bingo and talked about the number "5". This was the letter "N"s week and we glued newspaper tiles to a paper one. There was music and naptime and play center. Life was simple and good!

I'm NOT that OLD!
Today I have my old stuff to post. I've done some new stuff I'll publish when I find my card reader. Another reason today is not my day. It's my son, Christopher's 31st birthday. He's a video game geek. Let's see if I can get this right - in World of Warcraft "talk" - May you complete your quest with all the guild and level up before you go. Not real good, huh, Chris! LOL Happy Birthday, Chris!
